FFL-IL v. Pritzker Oral Arguments set for September 22, 2025 at 2 PM
The clerk of the Seventh Circuit sent out notification yesterday that oral arguments before the court of appeals for the cases consolidated under Barnett v. Raoul, including FFL-IL v. Pritzker, will be on September 22nd at 2 PM in the Main Courtroom, Room 2721, of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit at 219 S. Dearborn Street, Chicago.
Each side is limited to 45 minutes of oral argument. The 45 minutes on the side of the plaintiffs will be led by Erin Murphy, who heads the Barnett case. She will also get to decide which other attorneys will get to speak.
It is our sincere hope that the retirement of Judge Wood, who, along with Judge Easterbrook, ruled against a preliminary injunction for the complainants, results in a more fair-minded judge on the three judge panel in the case. We also hope that the panel has been closely following the decisions and messaging coming out of the Supreme Court. It is clear they are tired of courts claiming they dont understand the precedents set by SCOTUS or how to apply them.
Whoever prevails at the 7th Circuit, there will most likely be another appeal to SCOTUS and in our minds, SCOTUS looks poised to take the case. It is incredibly fully developed, has a two hundred page district court decision, an amicus brief from the Department of Justice, and clear messaging from Justice Kavanaugh that at least in his mind, the court will soon take up a major 2A case again to settle this issue once and for all after the courts denial for cert in Snope and Ocean State Tactical.
You are the reason the case has gotten this far!
We have a righteous case, amazing attorneys, and valuable partners in this fight but it is only because of YOU that the FFL-IL case has continued to make progress towards ultimate victory. It is the citizens of Illinois who will ultimately make the difference and preserve the Second Amendment rights of citizens of Illinois and ALL blue states once this victory is achieved. So many of you have given so much that it pains me to keep asking for more, but we are nearing the end and it would be a shame to have to stop the fight now due to a lack of funding.
The attorneys are now going to be in overtime mode preparing for oral arguments, and every hour is expensive. Please dig deep and, more importantly, spread the message that only through citizen warriors like you can we defeat tyranny. Donate Today!
